Hullo Enjul,

In this situation, we should employ the link in this format:

https:// contoso -my.sharepoint.com/personal/ username _ contoso _onmicrosoft_com/Documents/ test.mp4

Click "Render to archetype OneDrive" at the lower-left corner at your OneDrive for Business folio > hover over the file, nosotros tin run across the link.

James

What an incredibly bad pattern. While the rest of the globe is trying to simplify software and make information technology easier to use, Msft comes upward with things that brand it more than confusing, less intuitive and harder to utilise. Completely clueless.

This is a hack, not an answer. SPO is supposed to exist an "enterprise" solution - y'all should exist able to retrieve a direct link to a file and not take to jump through hoops to get it.  Anything else is just sloppy and lazy and wouldn't be tolerated by other companies.

Hullo James,

I'm Enju and I tried your solution. The link managed to get uploaded, but the media is not playing at all, with the error message saying "Media failed to load." I tested 2 different types of video files, but had the aforementioned result. I guess this is not the solution...

As many experts have reported, Msft has completely bungled video in SPO. About the only semi-reliable solution is to ensure video files have a document content type not the disastrous video content type and so use the raw .mp4 etc link with html5 video tags. In other words, you accept to sidestep Msft's pathetic attempts to "aid" you manage videos which clearly were not properly tested.

Hi James,

I checked the library and the files are yet there and they are all mp4 file. Are there any size limit issues that can create problems in the preview manner?

It's non a size limit - as many users accept reported hither, the video content type is poorly developed and never works properly. If you meet this in the url, it volition not play:

videoplayerpage.aspx

The flim-flam is to avert the video content type and Msft'south mangled urls which unfortunately means you take to upload the video with a document content type and add your own lawmaking. As I said, html5  video tags work best. This is the merely way we've found to avoid Msft's woeful attempt to manage videos.

Instead of trying (and failing horribly) to reinvent the wheel, Msft could have simply provided a way to access a directly link to any media asset in SP and then an pick to wrap that in industry standard html5 tags. Information technology would accept saved their developers untold amounts of time in coming upward with a proprietary solution that as we know, doesn't even work.

Beloved webbrewers3,

Thank you for your helpful comments on my answers.

I'm non a video good, and I'm wondering if you can provide me links to any referential materials on how to do it, I mean uploading the video with a document content type and the link with html5 video tags. Video is essential for my customers, and I somehow need to make the video library work for my customers.

Thanks in advance, and best,

Enju
